BRL – is an abbreviation that stands for a Brazilian real (R$), an official national currency. It was introduced in 1994 and anchored to the US dollar. At first, while the Brazilian economy was growing, the real was appreciated against USD. However, then the inflation made a BRL float against the USD, and the national currency of Brazil slid along with many other currencies of the emerging markets.
